Description:
Aerobic degradation of polymer materials is investigated in a model liquid medium using 510 ml airtight respirometric bottles equipped with an electronic pressure change recording system built into the caps, enabling continuous monitoring of the biodegradation process. Detailed degradation kinetics studies of polymer materials are carried out by evaluating the rate and dynamics of the process over time. The biodegradability of the materials is determined based on biochemical oxygen demand, by measuring changes in oxygen concentration within the range of 0 to 4.0 mg/l. The obtained results are used to assess the environmental impact of polymer materials and to support the development of more sustainable material solutions.
