Critical Point Drying
Description:
Critical point drying is performed using the QUORUM K850WM system, designed for the preparation of structurally sensitive samples for microscopic and materials science studies. The process is carried out at high pressure, up to 90 bar, using liquid carbon dioxide (CO₂), which, when passing through the critical point, allows the removal of the liquid phase without deformation caused by surface tension. This method is particularly suitable for porous, biological, polymeric or nanostructured materials, the microstructure of which can be damaged during conventional drying. The 150 mm chamber diameter allows the processing of samples of various dimensions, ensuring process stability and repeatability. The equipment is used in scientific research and in cooperation with industrial partners, when high-quality sample preparation for further analysis is required.
